Let’s Get Cozy: The Pattern
Step 1: The Foundation
Chain: Start by chaining 120 (or however wide you want your blanket to be).
Remember, you can always adjust this depending on your desired blanket size.
Step 2: The Body
Row 1: In the 3rd ch from the hook, work 1 dc. Continue to dc across the row. Ch 2 and turn.
Row 2: 1 dc, 1 hdc repeat across the row. Ch 2 and turn.
For that perfect pumpkin spice texture, I love alternating between dc and hdc stitches.
It gives the blanket a nice, cozy feel that’s not too dense but still warm enough for those chilly fall nights.
Row 3: Work a row of hdc across. Ch 1 and turn.
Keep alternating rows of dc, hdc, and sc to create a pattern that’s as warm and comforting as a cup of pumpkin spice latte.
Step 3: Adding Stripes (Optional, But So Fun!)
Every 10 rows or so, switch to a contrasting color for a few rows.
This adds that extra autumn flair! I like to throw in a few rows of deep brown and creamy white to break up the orange.
Step 4: The Border
Round 1: After reaching your desired length, sc evenly around the entire blanket.
This helps to neaten up the edges and gives the blanket a finished look.
Round 2: Work another round of sc, but this time, try a crab stitch (reverse single crochet) for that extra bit of texture.
Step 5: Weaving in Ends
Once you’re happy with your blanket, fasten off and weave in all those pesky ends with your tapestry needle.
